My Trip to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania

Hi, welcome back to the Adventures of Kwan Boy.

On Sunday I went to Strasburg to see the trains. I love going to Strasburg because there are so many trains and train museums. I've always loved trains since I was 3.

This time we went to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. I was able to see and even climb in to a lot of different trains. One of the trains, a blue diesel, had a bell on the outside near the bottom that I got to ring. I climbed into an old steam engine, but I couldn''t find the bell. I got to sit in the driver seat in the train a few different times. I even got to move the windsheild wipers.

We also got to go outside and look at old trains. I got to see my favorite train, the Amtrak train.

One of my favorite things was getting to drive the train simulator. It felt like I was really driving the train.

I can't wait until I get to go back to Strasburg! It will be in December and I'm going to ride the Polar Express!

Biking 10 Miles on the Chester Valley Trail

This Labor Day weekend my dad and I rode 10 miles along the Chester Valley Trail. It was a great exercise. We went through a long forest and saw lots of pretty birds and rabbits. Along the way we passed a few parks and saw people playing soccer.

We rode through meadows with grass taller than me! My favorite part was going through the tunnels and over the bridges. We even went over an old train trestle! At one part we had to go slow because it was a narrow area where the trail was under construction. One part was really cool because it was an actual Revolutionary War path that the soldiers marched on!

I hope to ride my bike on even more Rails to Trails. The Rails to Trails are abandoned railroad tracks that they have made into bike trails. I love trains and I love riding my bike so I think these type trails are perfect. Sometimes I even pretend I'm a train on an actual track.

On the train trestle!
At the end of the trail I was so excited that I didn't even feel tired. But by the time I got home I started getting really tired. I took a bath, ate a big dinner, and went straight to bed.

The whole trip was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again!

My First Day of First Grade

Hello World,
Today was my first day of school. It was a lot of fun. I even got two recesses! My teacher is nice and I've already made some friends.

My little brother was asking about me all day. He still stays at home with my mom until his preschool starts next week. I missed him too. I was glad he was there when I got off of the bus.

Oh well, I'm a little tired from a full day of school. So instead of writing about it, I'll just tell you about it in my vlog.

I had an Awesome Summer!!

I had a real fun summer. But it is almost over. Tomorrow I go back to school. I'll be in the first grade this year.

I did a lot of things this summer. It was kind of busy. Instead of writing about each one, I'll just add a few pictures of some of my favorite things I did this summer.
I found a lot of cool things on the beach!

I got an electric scooter for my birthday. Here I am riding it in Virginia Beach.

Boating at Marsh Creek State Park

Yesterday, my family and I went to Marsh Creek State Park. My brother and I played on the playground and then we all took a short hike. At the end of our hike we found a dock with kayaks, canoes, sail boats, paddle boards, and electrical boats.

We decided to take an electrical boat for a ride.

First we headed out to the middle of the lake. Then my dad took us to an area that looked like swamps. There was a lot of stuff that looked like seaweed and there were trees with low hanging branches. We saw bubbles coming out of the water but we never found out what caused them.

We left the swamps to look for a better place to pull over at the edge. We wanted to find a cool place that was far away from everything. We finally found a perfect place where the thin branches and leaves touched the water. When we went behind them it felt like we were secluded. Everything was very quiet. I was going to drop the anchor but we came to a perfect stop rested against trees.

Before we took the boat back to the dock, my dad pulled out to the  middle of the lake and let me drop the anchor.  After we stopped for a few minutes I pulled the anchor back into the boat all by myself.

It was a great day and we all had lots of fun. I hope I can get on an electrical boat again soon.

Summer Learning Means Summer Earning

School is out but I still do some learning. I read books (I'm reading Magic School Bus now), do science projects, and do different types of workbooks.

I have an Algebra workbook, a Daily Math Practice workbook, and a Korean Math workbook. I also do other things with the Brain Quest workbook.

In my math books there is adding, subtracting, patterns and there are even multiplication word problems (I don't know what that means but that's what my dad says).

Doing work books is kind of like my job. It's how I earn things like going outside or getting to play the Wii. Sometimes the questions are hard but it is worth it. It makes me happy when I get the questions right. I asked my mom to circle them if they are right.

Here are some pictures of the books and some of the problems.

This was a long problem

Body Surfing and Bike Riding in Virginia Beach

So we made it to Virginia Beach. We had a fun ride from Philadelphia. My favorite part was when we stopped and made a mixed fruit icee drink.

When we arrived, it was too late to go to the ocean. So we hung out at the beach house and played a lot of games. It was great getting to play with all of my cousins since I don't get to see them much.

Yesterday we went to the beach. I was body surfing a lot. I'm getting pretty good at it. My mommy and I made deep sand tunnels and filled them with water - that was my favorite.

Later that night, we went to the boardwalk. There were bands playing and people were walking around and riding bikes. I saw a man on a tall unicycle doing tricks. But the funnest part was getting to ride my Pop Pop's bike. He pushed me up and down the boardwalk. It was such a great time.

I can't wait to post a lot of pictures from Virginia Beach.

I'm Headed to Virginia Beach!!!

I have been excited for a long time and tomorrow is finally the day. I am going to Virginia Beach. I am going on a summer vacation and to meet up with my family from Tennessee. There will be Pop-Pop and Nana, my uncles Poppy and Mo-Mo, my Aunt Jamaica, and I can't wait to see my cousins, Camilla, Kingston, Mecca and Medina.

First, I'm going to dig for treasure. Next I want to make sand castles. Finally I will play in the water. I am also bringing my bike and I can't wait to ride it on the boardwalk.

I have been saving my money for this trip. Tonight my mom gave me my very first real wallet.

I'm bringing my Wii so we can all play lots of games. I can't wait to beat Mo-Mo at Wii sports! I'm going to teach him.

We're going to eat dinner at the boardwalk. I love having hot dogs on the boardwalk.

Stay tuned and I'll report back live from Virginia Beach on the Adventures of Kwan Boy.

Magic Tree House Makes Magic in My House

I like reading the Magic Tree House books. I was given them by my cousin who lives in Korea. Her name is Jina. Sometimes I get to spend the summer with Jina.

I have a box with 28 tree house books in it. I am on book 14.It also comes with a really cool map. The Tree House books are so amazing because you can learn cool stuff. They are also fun to read. There are so many good Magic Tree House books, that it is hard to pick just one as my favorite.

The two kids are named Jack and Annie. They found a magic tree house in the woods near their house. They discover that the tree house belongs to a magic librarian. You will find out about who the librarian is if you read to book 4. Inside the tree house they found a lot of special books. When they point to a picture in the book the tree house starts to spin. Then everything is still. Absolutely still (that's my favorite part). Then they find out they landed in the place where the book is about.

Sometimes they are with pirates, mummies, and even ninjas. They have fun adventures. Some are scary. But they usually find a friend to help them out. One time the pirates put Jack and Annie in jail on their ships. One time they even went to space. I also like the book where a real cowboy helped them to rescue a baby horse.

You should read the Magic Tree House books so you can learn new stuff in a fun way.

My Very First Blog Post

Hello World! My name is Kwan. I will be 7 in just a few weeks. My daddy's name is also Kwan. He works with businesses on the internet, so he will be helping me start my very own blog (he'll also be helping me with big words and stuff)! When I grow up, I want to be a scientist. I already do some experiments and make my own potions. I also like to swim and take swimming lessons at the YMCA.

I live with my Umma (that's Korean for mom) and dad and my little brother Kai.

Friday was my last day of school. I ride the bus in the mornings, but Friday was the first time I got to ride it home.

I'm really excited to be going to the beach for July 4th! My grandparents, uncles, and cousins will all be there too!

Well that's a little bit about me. Keep checking back and follow me on the Adventures of KwanBoy!
